The Step-by-Step Process
Step 1 — Remove your old polish, file, and buff
Start with a completely clean slate. Use a non-acetone remover and make sure every trace of old polish is gone. Once your nails are clean, use a nail file to shape them to your desired length and shape — always file in one direction to prevent splitting. Then lightly buff the surface of each nail to remove the natural shine. This creates a slightly rough texture that gives your base coat something to grip onto. Don’t over-buff — you just need to dull the surface, not thin the nail.
Step 2 — Apply cuticle remover and soak
Apply your cuticle remover gel around each nail. Then drop a Ginger Lily Farms Spa Ball into a bowl of warm water — or wrap hands in a hot towel — and soak for about 60 seconds. The cuticle remover softens everything up, so the next step is effortless.

Step 3 — Push back your cuticles
Remove the cuticle remover and gently push your cuticles back using a cuticle pusher. Take your time and be gentle — no force needed after the soak. Work around each nail to clear the nail plate completely.
Step 4 — Clean your nails with a nail brush
Give each nail a thorough scrub with a nail brush under warm water. This removes any leftover cuticle remover, dead skin, and debris from the nail surface. Clean nails = better adhesion.
Step 5 — Remove all debris with acetone
Using a nail brush dipped in a little acetone, lightly scrub each nail to remove any remaining oils or debris. This is your final prep step — your nail plate should now be completely clean and dry. Let your nails dry for a moment before moving on.

Step 6 — Apply base coat
Apply a thin, even layer of base coat to each nail. Make sure to cover the free edge — swipe across the tip of the nail to seal it. This is what stops polish from peeling back from the tip. Let it dry or cure fully before moving on.
For weak or thin nails, apply your nail strengthener before the base coat for an extra layer of protection.

Step 7 — Apply your polish — 2 coats
Apply your first coat of polish. Cover the entire nail and make sure you cap the free edge. Wait for the first coat to dry fully before applying the second coat. Never rush this step. Two thin coats always beat one thick one.

Step 8 — Apply top coat and wait
Finish with a top coat over the entire nail, making sure to cap the free edge one last time. Then wait — at least 5 minutes, or until fully dry. Don’t touch anything, don’t do the dishes, don’t dig through your bag. Let it set. This final layer is what keeps everything sealed and protected for weeks.

Keep them looking fresh — aftercare tips
- Apply cuticle oil every single day — this is the single best habit you can build
